Description:
 The theme of the summer school is "activating multiple dimensions within the patient." Dr. Sheldon will show how to avoid misalliances in the early phases of treatment, how to mobilize the patient to the task of therapy, and how to build relational capacity in the patient. Ms. Winstanley will illustrate a relational approach to stdp, emphasizing how to foster emotional closeness within the therapeutic relationship through a focus on positive affects. Dr. Coughlin will focus on how to liberate the healing force within the patient by creating a therapeutic alliance with the healthy part of the patient, while interrupting destructive patterns of emotional regulation and interpersonal functioning. Mr. Frederickson will present material to be commented on by the guest presenters.
