Description:
Day one of this training/seminar will focus on mobilization of will to help patients overcome defenses, face feelings and develop compassion for the rejected parts of themselves. Videotape vignettes will illustrate the process that helps patients develop affect tolerance, undo irrational shame and guilt, and experience emotional closeness. Day two attendees will watch video of cases by advanced trainees in ISTDP, and observe their supervision by Susan Warshow.

This seminar marks the start of the Washington School of Psychiatry's ISTDP school year. The approach demonstrated is an experiential dynamic therapy. Attendees will see Ms. Warshow's work demonstrated on September 29 and see her supervise advanced trainees in ISTDP on September 30.
